An Army Veteran and Grandmother and Her Granddaughter

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him...” Psalm 37:7

It’s difficult to find positives in the midst of a global pandemic, but being still gives us the opportunity to re-focus, draw closer to the Lord, and turn our anxieties over to him. This was certainly true for L, an Army veteran raising her granddaughter alone. L lost her job when she needed surgery after breaking a bone in her hand. That lead to her losing her home....and then the world shut down. L placed her granddaughter in the care of a relative and went to Catholic Charities for temporary housing. There she learned to wait on God and put her trust in him to provide.

Six months later, she was able to move into an apartment but had nothing to put in it. She spent her days looking for a job, and nights sleeping on the floor. Through a series of interesting circumstances that only God could have orchestrated, L was referred to Finishing Touch and her wait was over. Now L is back at work and she and her granddaughter have a place to return to each night that is comfortable and homey. We smile when we think of this sweet woman who loves the Lord, in her cheerful apartment, made even more beautiful with her favorite gospel music playing in the background.

We ask that you continue to pray for L and others who have been displaced from their homes. And pray that God will continue to lead Finishing Touch Ministries to those he wants us to bless.

“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my Hope is from Him.” Psalm 62:5
